1. Press the "Windows" and "R" keys on your keyboard at the same time to launch Command Prompt. Type "cmd" and hit the "Enter" key after.

2. Press "Enter" after entering "ping www.google.com -t" in the Command Prompt window.

3. Wait a few moments for the ping results to appear showing the response time from Google's servers.

4. After that, use the keyboard shortcuts "Ctrl" and "C" to halt the ping and view the statistics.

5. The statistical results show the "Minimum," "Maximum," and "Average" numbers.

6. To find out your internet speed, do the following calculations :

  • Download speed = (file size in MB x 8) / (download time in seconds).
  • Upload speed = (file size in MB x 8) / (upload time in seconds).

In this situation, you can download or upload the file by searching for the precise file size on a certain website. To make testing simpler, you may also look for internet speed tests online.

This is how to use Windows' Command Prompt to check your internet speed. Nevertheless, since other variables like the network and the device being used can also affect internet speed, this method only provides approximations of the data. ✔
